Whew! You all! Today is the day, and I am excited to let you know (if you don’t already know), that the ILA and the USMX have reached a *tentative* agreement regarding automation on the East Coast ports.
This tentative agreement was reached on January 9, but hasn’t been ratified by the Union’s board yet. Thus, it is “unofficially official”. Regardless, the strike is officially delayed and hopefully done.
This is a great article that outlines the tentative deal and the freight costs already incurred due to the uncertainty. This is, of course, huge news for any monument company preparing to implement new import pricing strategies. We hope to see that ratification happen soon!

The Inauguration is in a few short days. This means anticipated tariff increases are on their way as well.
We aren’t entirely certain what the tariffs will look like and who they will specifically impact. There has been talk of all kinds, but no concrete plan laid forward yet. This will be a development you will want to keep an eye on it you sell imports, including imports from Canada.
